This antenna is usually called a "snake" as it is not elevated and can be run around the yard laying in the grass. It can be any length but one hundred feet or more is usual. I have never tried this antenna myself but those who have report that it is very low noise. The impedance of the coax does not matter, anything you have laying around should work. Be sure to weatherproof the far end.
